All Ages Will Encounter Being, Underestimated, Ridiculed & Excluded
Every person has a value in society regardless of age and an innate dignity that must be protected whether in private, public and the workplace.

Age discrimination is often under-reported & dismissed as not important.

Underestimated, ridiculed and excluded; in the workplace people 45+ miss out on job opportunities because of the assumption that older people can’t perform in today’s tech-driven world. Expressions of ageism such as seeing older people out of touch with technology or unable to learn new skills. This stereotype increases many folds once a worker enters there 50’s & 60’s, where the chance of them being given an interview is highly reduced.

Some of the signs of ageism in the workplace

  • Unfair treatment because of your race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, gender identity, and sexual orientation), national origin, disability, age (age 40 or older), or genetic information.
  • Older workers are often laid off with the excuse of downsizing due to economic reasons only for the role to be back field with a junior role.
  • Harassment by managers, co-workers, or others in your workplace, because of your race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, gender identity, and sexual orientation), national origin, disability, age (age 45 or older), or genetic information.
  • Denial of a reasonable workplace change that you need because of your religious beliefs or disability.
  • Improper questions about or disclosure of your genetic information or medical information.
  • Retaliation because you complained about job discrimination or assisted with a job discrimination proceeding, such as an investigation or lawsuit.

Generally older workers get invited in for an interview.

Olders workers whether employed or unemployed will receive less responses to their submitted application and if they are asked in for an interview will face the obstacle of being interviewed by someone much younger.

Older Works Get Less Interviews
